He Said – She Said: Top Ten Reasons to Move to the UK

Reason number SIX:

He Said:

The friendliness of the people.  Beyond our circle of friends, people were friendlier in the UK.  People serving in shops, people we met on the street, waiters and waitresses.  It seemed that people genuinely were interested in engaging in conversation, willing to help out, and share information.  And of course, my family over there is Very Friendly.

She Said:

Charity Shops.  I know, you hear all the time that it’s so expensive to buy in the UK…. but it all depends on where and what you are buying.  Though we have second hand shops here in Canada, often they are filled with the “junk” of people’s closets.  Not so in the UK.  Charity shops (second hand stores) are FULL of incredibly fashionable treasures – all at incredibly discounted prices!  If you aren’t one that needs to see the expensive price tag to feel good about your purchases, you can look mighty fine by frequenting the charity shops.

  1. I’ve recently taken a car-load of books and other items for the charity shop. So they’ll be even more to choose from. Happy shopping!

    • Why thank you! *grin* Now I feel better about purging ours. I have about four LARGE boxes of stuff to drop off at a friend’s who runs a book consignment shop (oh yes!) and so I hope to get some savings out of that. I have lots of friends willing to take a load or two more off our hands. I do have some very OLD books (like 1900-1910 printing) that I’m finding it hard to part with… maybe I’ll list them on ebay or something. Someone’s gotta love books as much as I do.
