Vroom!

Okay.  I admit it, I fell into a funk after my last post.  We so desperately want to be in the UK that the whole speed bump and pot holes thing just got me down.  I didn’t want to talk about it anymore… I didn’t even go onto British Expats for over a MONTH! (I know!!!)

But we’ve talked.  We’ve prayed.  And I think we’re ready to move forward again.

We’re listing our house to sell in February, and when it’s sold we’re going to rent here in Canada for a year… saving as much money as we can.  Once the house sells, we’ll get the passports, watch our daughter graduate from highschool, see her off on her volunteering, hopefully see her get into the military, and then move NEXT April (2015).  Our smaller children will be 12 and 10, still a decent age to relocate them, and what’s nice is they might even keep their Canadian accents…  but then… who knows. *grin*

Church at Bath

The church at Bath.

We’re also going to be taking a trip over the pond in the late Spring of this year (2014) to take a better look-see and check out some recruiters to discuss what is realistic to expect opportunity-wise with my husband’s CV.  We’ll check out the primary areas of his line of work and see if there is a particular place we’d like to live… though we suspect we’ll be biased for the Derby area.  It’ll be the first time for our smaller children to visit the UK, I’m hoping it’ll give them a bit of a taste for it and everything it has to offer. My youngest is already convinced though, “any place I can buy curly wurlies is fine by me!”  She’s my pet!  I hope to have the chance this trip to take them to Bath which was a true fascination for my younger children when we went in 2010.

Time will pass slowly this next year and a half, I think, but I’ve decided to enjoy the last two Christmases living in Canada… I purpose to enjoy the very cold weather, I might even try taking the kids skiing or skating (brrrrrr!) sometime this winter instead of our typical board games by the fireplace time. hehe.

IN THE MEANTIME… we’ve discovered a Hotspot Shield that lets us watch BBC iPlayer online – so I’m not missing any of that good British culture while I’m waiting… and I’m completely and newly addicted to the Great British Bake-Off! (BTW, this pleases my ex-pat husband tremendously as I get all inspired to work on my British cookery and baking skills!)

More later…

    Any news?

    • Actually, I was about to post… we kind of fell off the wagon again (another blow) – sometimes I just wonder, you know? Anyhow, the dream is still on.. in fact, it might be happening sooner rather than later! I am going to be doing a blog post today in fact… stay tuned! 🙂

Thanks for thinking of us! 🙂
